Steve Davis: AFC North Up For Grabs

It will be an interesting week in the AFC North.

Right now, the Ravens are tied with the Steelers for the most wins at 5. They are % points behind Cincinnati for the lead. However, the Ravens face the most difficult game of the week.

Cincinnati gets to play the Jaguars, who are just awful. So, the Bengals will be 5-2-1.

The Browns, coming off a win over Oakland, now get the Bucs, who are just terrible. They will win that game, and will be 5-3.

That leaves the Ravens and Steelers. Whoever loses will have a winning record at 5-4, and still be in last place.

Being honest, I don't like the Ravens' chances. Pittsburgh is coming off a huge win with an epic performance by Big Ben.

The Ravens, as we sit here in the early week, look to be a tough position injury wise. If Jimmy Smith can't play, the Steelers will attack Franks just like Cincy did. If Owen Daniels can't go, and it's hard to imagine he will, that leaves Joe without his safety valve. In this offense, you need the tight end, and it's unreasonable to expect too much out of Gilmore.

This league is so week to week that anything can happen, but the Ravens will have to turn in a special performance to stay out of the basement in the AFC North. A couple days ago, I really liked their chances, but without Smith and Daniels, I am not nearly as optimistic.
