State Sen. Jennie Forehand Not Seeking Re-Election

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- State Sen. Jennie Forehand says she won't run for re-election.

The Montgomery County Democrat said Friday that she will serve the rest of her term, which expires in January 2015.

Forehand notes that she is in her 36th year in Maryland's Legislature. She served 16 years in the House of Delegates before she started serving in the Senate in 1995. She has served on the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee in recent years.

Two other Democrats have already announced they will run for Forehand's seat. They are Cheryl Kagan, a former member of the House, and Del. Luiz Simmons.

Forehand's district includes Gaithersburg and Rockville.
