State Comptroller Warns Of Fake Tax Lien Scam

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Three months before the state tax deadline, State Comptroller Peter Franchot says the agency has processed more than two million state tax returns.
Franchot also is warning about a new scam targeting taxpayers, in which some are receiving letters from a company claiming to be with the agency and saying there is a lien against them.
Franchot says this is not real and to contact his office if you receive one of these letters.
