Search Continues For Suspects In Light Rail Stabbing

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Vicious attack. WJZ obtains exclusive video of the violent assault on board a busy Light Rail train. Police need the public's help to identify seven people connected to a stabbing.

Only WJZ has a closer look at the violent attack, while the suspects are still on the loose.

Exclusive video obtained by WJZ shows the brutal attack on a 34-year-old man--footage on board the Light Rail that's painful just to watch.

The stabbing unfolded Tuesday afternoon. Police say the 34-year-old victim was the center of the attack after getting into an argument with a group of people on board the southbound train.

If you watch closely, you can see one of the suspects look around before striking the victim in the rear section. It's unclear whether or not he was holding an object.

"This is an anomaly," said Captain Kelly Holman, MTA Police.

After reviewing footage, MTA Police are now searching for seven people. They say five of them were part of the attack, the others are key witnesses.

"They actually boarded at Cultural Center. Centre Street is the very next station down, so it took approximately two minutes before the incident occurred," said Kelly.

Even though all eyes are now on this bizarre incident, MTA Police say system wide, they've had a 45 percent decrease in crime over the past year.

Most commuters--left stunned.

"It's kind of shocking because there's been more beefed up security," said Pierre Robinson.

"It concerns me that it could happen again," said Alex Fox.

They say an incident like this could happen to anyone.

"I've still got to get around and travel back and forth from work," said Robinson.

The victim was released Wednesday morning with non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators say the suspects are facing possible felony aggravated assault charges.
