Police: Man In Custody After Breaking Into St. Frances Academy While Kids Were Inside

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- A man is in police custody after he broke into St. Frances Academy in downtown Baltimore Wednesday afternoon.

Baltimore police said he's unarmed and officers have isolated the man. They believe he may be homeless.

Fire officials said he broke into the church side of the school and went up to the second floor and barricaded himself inside.

He broke three stain glass windows which have now been replaced with black panels.

Police said he is now in custody and was just taken to the hospital.

No children are in danger. Some worried parents were outside the school waiting for their children to be released.

The school is located at 501 E Chase Street. Police are still working to determine how he got inside the school.
