Spring Rains Force Delay Of Opening At Cumberland Speedway

CUMBERLAND, Md. (AP) -- Race promoters say spring rains, which delayed resurfacing of the track at the Cumberland Speedway, have pushed back opening day.

Calvin Davis, speedway general manager, tells The Times-News of Cumberland (http://bit.ly/1ysCBvC) that organizers decided last week to start the 2015 dirt track racing season on May 30. Races were previously set for April 25 and May 9.

Davis says the lack of warm, dry weather is delaying the widening and regarding of the track base, as well as shaking new clay into the racing surface.
