Special Olympics Athlete Dies Following Baltimore County Competition

BALTIMORE COUNTY, Md. (WJZ)-- A tragedy strikes during the special Olympics held in Baltimore County.

During an aquatics competition at Towson University, a Special Olympics athlete suffered a medical emergency.

The athlete was taken off site to receive emergency medical care.

Sadly, despite efforts, the athlete died.

It's still unknown what caused the incident.
