Lieutenant Tim Rostkowski with Baltimore Co Fire says crews were called just after 7:30 Monday night to the 1500 block of Sparrows Point Road,  near the old Bethlehem Steel Mill.

"Crews from Sparrows Point Fire Station arrived on scene and found a 25-foot-by-25-foot pile of debris, which was actively on fire," says Lt. Rostkowski.

The fire called at least a two-alarm fire's worth of fire crew equipment, and Baltimore County Fire received help from Howard County, Anne Arundel County, Baltimore City, and Baltimore City Fire boats.

"This area is under development. They're doing a lot of renovation and construction down here," he said.

Tradepoint Atlantic, the real estate developer of the site, later clarified the fire started in a pile of old refrigerators and appliances.
"This was a pile that was down by our port area that was scheduled to be loaded onto a shop."

Fire crews had some issues controlling the fire because there wasn't an active water main running throughout most of the property, according to Lt. Rostkowski.

Crews had to shovel water into the fire to contain it.

No injuries have been reported. Crews will remain on scene overnight.

This story will be updated.
