Sobriety Checkpoint Scheduled In Calvert County

PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. (AP) — A sobriety checkpoint will be taking place in Calvert County.

The Maryland State Police have scheduled the checkpoint for Friday.

Police say the initiative is to reduce impaired driving collisions by educating the public and aggressively enforcing laws against impaired driving.

Police say a third of all statewide fatal crashes involve an impaired driver.

They say sobriety checkpoints have been shown to be an important component of a comprehensive program to reduce drunken driving.
