Snow Pushes Md. City's Mardi Gras Parade To Friday

HAVRE DE GRACE, Md. (AP) -- The city of Havre de Grace says it's postponing its Mardi Gras parade due to lingering snow and ice from Monday's winter storm.

Tourism director Brigitte Peters says the event has been moved from Tuesday night to Friday night in hopes that side streets and sidewalks will be clear by then.

She says just one of the 15 floats is in danger of pulling out, due to uncertainty about the availability of a tractor.

Peters says this is the first time in its seven-year history that the event has been postponed from Fat Tuesday.

She says 40 organizations have registered to participate in the parade. The parade route includes four blocks of the city's own Bourbon Street.
