Skeletal Human Remains Found Outside Westminster

WESTMINSTER, Md. (AP) -- Homicide detectives are investigating after skeletal human remains were found in northern Maryland.

The Carroll County Sheriff's Office says the remains were found Sunday in the woods near railroad tracks outside Westminster, the county seat.

Sheriff's Capt. Richard Hart says no identifying information was found at the scene, including gender, and that a medical examiner will try to determine the cause of death and identity.

The Carroll County Times reports that the remains were found by people walking near the railroad tracks. The remains were taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore on Monday.
