Sun returns Monday afternoon with dry weather for a few days

The morning commute will be damp in many areas of Maryland Monday. But, showers gradually taper-off after 11 a.m. Rain will end early in the afternoon across the eastern shore. Temperatures peak in the low to mid-60s Monday afternoon. It'll be a much nicer second-half of the day.

Rainfall totals will be greatest in southern Maryland and on the lower eastern shore. More than half an inch of rain could fall across Queen Anne's, Kent, Caroline, Talbot and Dorchester Counties. Rainfall around a quarter of an inch is expected in southern and eastern portions of the Baltimore metro.

Much of Carroll and Frederick counties will miss out on the rain.

Clearer, drier weather returns Monday afternoon and continues through Tuesday. Temperatures will be in the upper 50s and lower 60s Tuesday afternoon. It'll feel chillier Tuesday evening and night as temperatures drop back into the 30s and 40s.

The forecast trends warmer on Wednesday. Temperatures approach 70° Wednesday afternoon. A couple light rain showers are possible Wednesday evening through Thursday morning ahead of a front.

A greater chance of rain arrives Friday evening, into Saturday, ahead of a strong cold front. More showers are possible Sunday as much colder weather settles into our region. Winter-like temperatures are expected early next week.
