Shooting Reported On Baltimore-Washington Parkway Wednesday; Information Sought

ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, Md. (WJZ) -- Police are searching for an SUV following a report of a shooting on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway in Anne Arundel County Wednesday.

The U.S. Park Police said officers got a call about a shooting on Route 295 at Route 32 just after 3:30 p.m.

They're searching for a black Hyundai SUV, possibly a 2008-2010 Tucson or Santa Fe with Virginia license plates, that may be involved. It may have oversized chrome wheels, tinted windows and two white stickers on the back window.

Police did not say how those inside may be connected to the reported shooting or if anyone was injured.

Northbound lanes of the highway were closed at Route 198 for several hours.

Drivers in the area were surprised to learn of where the incident happened given its proximity to the National Security Agency complex.

"That area, it's very, that's strange, like that doesn't occur," said Kathyana Philippe who lives nearby.

Another nearby resident, Ray Myers, said it left him feeling "uneasy, with everything that's going on especially, hopefully it's nothing bad."

Anyone with information should call U.S. Park Police at 1-888-361-3332 or (202) 379-4877 or email USPP_tipline@nps.gov.
