Sheriff's Office: Driver In Fatal Crash Had Been Drinking

PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- Authorities say alcohol was a factor in a head-on collision that killed a man in Prince Frederick.

The Calvert County Sheriff's Office says 57-year-old Robert Rambo of Prince Frederick had been drinking when he drove his pickup truck into oncoming traffic and crashed into an SUV, killing the other driver.

The sheriff's office says 59-year-old Peter Schroeder of Chesapeake Beach was killed in the crash, which occurred Saturday afternoon on Maryland Route 231. Schroeder's wife, 54-year-old Mary Schroeder, was seriously injured and was flown to a trauma center in Washington.

Rambo was also seriously injured. Rescuers had to extricate all three people from their vehicles.

The crash remains under investigation and no charges have yet been filed.
