Sex Offender Sentenced To 50 Years For Assault, Burglaries

TOWSON, Md. (AP) -- A sex offender who spent 17 years in prison has been sentenced to 50 years for assaulting a woman and burglarizing two apartments.

Baltimore County Circuit Judge Kathleen Cox sentenced 45-year-old Vincent Davis on Friday. He pleaded guilty in April to first-degree assault and two separate burglaries.

County prosecutors say Davis grabbed a woman from behind in July 2013 and started dragging her toward some woods near his Towson-area home. Prosecutors say the woman clawed at Davis and escaped, leaving behind some clothing.

Prosecutors say the two burglaries occurred last year. They both involved apartments in the Towson area where young women lived. Clothing, jewelry and pictures were stolen.

Davis previously served prison time after breaking into a woman's apartment and trying to sexually assault her in 1993.
