More Than A Dozen Hurt In Hanover St. Bridge Accident

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- A major accident on the Hanover Street bridge in South Baltimore. Thirteen people are injured, including a number of children.

The call came in around 9 p.m. Friday for an accident along the Hanover Street bridge.

When crews arrived on scene, they found a total of 13 people injured, including six children.

Officials say one of the vehicles was a church van carrying several passengers when it collided with a smaller-type SUV.

Paramedics say there was a child trapped inside the van, who they got out safely.

"When they arrived, there was one individual that was still inside of the vehicle that needed to be rescued. The firefighters on scene were able to extract that individual," firefighters said.

Crews say they were working to revive one adult on scene.

Injuries for all range from non-life threatening to very serious.

Traffic is expected to be blocked off on the Hanover St. bridge for the next few hours.
