Seth Gruen: Chris Sale Tantrum "Won't Change Anything" On Trade Market

Seth Gruen from Bleacher Report joined the Scott Garceau Show with Jeremy Conn to talk about the latest stories in baseball.

The Chicago White Sox suspended starting pitcher Chris Sale five games after his reported clash with the team over the club's uniforms Saturday. Scott asked Gruen if the dispute increased the chances Sale is traded. "I don't believe it changes anything only because a pitcher as talented as Chris Sale on a contract that is seemingly the most team friendly in baseball, you're just looking at what he does on the field and a lot of the stuff that may occur off the field you're sort of sweeping under the rug…It would need to be a tremendous haul of prospects."

The Chicago Cubs acquired flame-throwing closer Aroldis Chapman from the Yankees to help out their struggling bullpen. Gruen talked about the top prospect the Yankees received in return. "I know certainly a lot about Gleyber Torres, who by many accounts of those in the Cubs organization was the best fielding shortstop they had in their system at the major league level or at the minor league level…He was a really sought after trade chip that they could use this July."

The AL East is a three team race with only three games separating first place from third place. Gruen predicted who would come out on top. "I'm going to pick the Red Sox to win the division at this point just because I know that they have some of the prospects to be able to do more this time of year. But I like both the Blue Jays and the Orioles to play in that Wild Card. I like what they're able to do offensively."
