Salisbury University Fraternity Suspended Until 2017
SALISBURY, Md. (AP) -- A Salisbury University fraternity will remain suspended until the Spring 2017 semester because of an undisclosed hazing incident involving students.
The Daily Times reports the university announced March 31 that Sigma Alpha Epsilon's suspension, which was to last until summer of 2015, will now last until 2017.
Documents obtained by the paper through a Freedom of Information Act request show the suspension was for allegations of paddling potential new members, forcing them to drink and giving false information to police when the college began its investigation.
The fraternity was initially suspended in 2012 after a university board found it had violated the school's alcoholic beverage policy and participated in hazing. That suspension was until 2014 but was extended because the chapter recruited members while on suspension.
