Sal Sinatra Of The Maryland Jockey Club On The Preakness Possibly Moving To Laurel

Sal Sinatra is the Vice President and General Manager of the Maryland Jockey Club.

Sal joined Ed and Steve to talk about the problems at the Preakness and the possibility of moving from Pimlico to Laurel.

Sal started off by talking about the possibility of the Preakness "I was involved in December to try to make a profit from the Preakness...we're trying to right the ship on expenses and are trying to focus on where to put the major investment in Maryland." As for the financial ramifications of fixing up tracks in the are Sal said "Pimlico would be a complete rebuild, Laurel would cost about half the price to make it palace." Sal also talked about trying to take the Laurel race track and make it into an entire village featuring restaurants and casinos around the track so families can come and enjoy races and make an entire night out of it.
