Woman, Child Believed To Be Dead After Rowhomes Catch Fire On Chesapeake Beach

CALVERT COUNTY, MD. (WJZ) — Two people are believed to be dead after several rowhomes caught on fire in Chesapeake Beach in Calvert County late Wednesday afternoon.

According to WUSA9, Chesapeake Mayor Pat Mahoney said officials believe an adult woman and a child were the two people who died in the fire.

Three firefighters were also injured battling the flames and were taken to area hospitals for treatments.

As of Wednesday night, all three firefighters have been released from the hospital.

There is no word yet on what caused the fire.

Gov. Larry Hogan released a statement on Wednesday, saying:

"Keeping the Chesapeake Beach community in our thoughts tonight after this terrible fire. Our prayers our with loved ones of the victims, and we wish full and speedy reoveries for the first responders who were injured."
