Rev. Westley West To Run For City Council; Replace Mosby

BALTIMORE (WJZ)—On Sunday, in front of a CVS Pharmacy at the center of city riots last spring, city activist and reverend Westley West announced his decision to run for the City Council's 7th District seat.

West made the announcement in the Penn-North neighborhood where he led several protests following the death of Freddie Gray.

He says he wants to change unemployment issues, help lower the crime rate and help redevelop areas in West Baltimore.

The seat he is running for is currently occupied by Councilman Nick Mosby, who announced he is running for mayor.
