Retired Montgomery Co. Fire Official Named Hagerstown Chief

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- The retired chief of the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service has been named chief of the Hagerstown Fire Department.

Steve Lohr retired last year from the Montgomery County post. He has 30 years of firefighting experience.

Hagerstown officials tell The Herald-Mail of Hagerstown (http://bit.ly/1JGoln2) that Lohr was selected from among 52 candidates who applied in a nationwide search.

Lohr will succeed Chief Kyd Dieterich, who is retiring on June 30.
