Resident Cites D.C. Police Inaction During Brawl

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Residents in northeast Washington have filed a complaint over a District of Columbia police officer's inaction while responding to a street brawl.

The Washington Post reports the fight broke out Friday night in the Trinidad neighborhood. Eva Nash says she and her husband, Vinson, saw a crowd of 20 to 30 people with several fights underway. Nash says one fighter slammed another on her car, denting the hood.

Nash and her husband called police. She confronted the men but was shouted down and threatened.

When an officer arrived, most of the fighters scattered. Nash says the officer didn't make any effort to detain anyone and only asked if they wanted to file a report.

Vinson Nash filed a complaint Saturday about the inaction. Police wouldn't comment on the investigation.
