Reports: Penn. Child, 4, Dies After Being Left in Hot Car

BALTIMORE, Md. (WJZ) -- A child has died after authorities said she was left alone for hours in a car as temperatures climbed into the 90s in Pennsylvania, according to multiple reports.

First responders tried unsuccessfully to revive the 4-year-old, who was found unresponsive about 3:30 p.m. Friday near downtown Williamsport, police told PennLive.

The child was later pronounced dead at Williamsport Regional Medical Center.

WNEP-TV reports the child had been with a caretaker, who routinely dropped the child off at daycare but instead went to work that day without stopping by the facility -- and did not return to the vehicle until hours later.

The child, whom WNEP identified as a girl, was set for an autopsy Saturday.
