Reginald F. Lewis Museum Announces Black History Month Events

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- The Reginald F. Lewis Museum has announced its events for Black History Month.

The events will focus on the Civil War and Antebellum periods, the Civil Rights Movement and the present day.

On Jan. 25 at 2 p.m., they will show "Freedom Riders," with a post-film panel of local freedom riders. This showcases testimony from freedom riders, government officials and journalists and is about the people who deliberately violated segregation laws.

Their capstone event will be Feb. 7 at 1 p.m. with a special discussion of two Civil War-era diaries by two free African-Americans.

On Feb. 22, they will show a documentary on Gordon Parks, a writer, musician, filmmaker and photographer.

There will be a free open house on Feb. 28 at 10 a.m. There will be interactive tours, activities and live entertainment.
