Recapping The Opening Week In The MLB

Karl Buscheck of Bleacher Report joined the Scott Garceau Show with Jeremy Conn to take a look back at the Opening Week in baseball. So far the AL East looks like there will be a ton of parody with most of the division lumped together. Karl gave his thoughts on the once toughest division in baseball. "The American League East, to me, will be a lot of fun to track. Heading into the season, I picked the Orioles for first place, but I really like the offenses of the both the Red Sox and the Blue Jays. However the Yankees have a sneaky good pitching staff and the back end of the bullpen will cause many problems for oppositions."

Prior to the season a lot of questions were raised with the Orioles depth and will they be able to move on with the departures of Nelson Cruz, Nick Markakis and Andrew Miller. Karl believes in the birds. "The Orioles are the team to beat. I think they got a bit of a bad rap last winter, loosing big names such as Nelson Cruz, Nick Markakis, and Andrew Miller, but they got a guy like Manny Machado back who can really be a game changer with the glove and the bat and their rotation depth has been really impressive."

Teams are a little over a week into the new season and a lot of fans are worried about their teams, specifically the Washington Nationals. Karl gave his thoughts on some off-season predictions that are looking a little questionable right now. "If you go back to the off-season you couldn't find a single odds maker that'd tell you anything but the Nationals are the odds on favorite to win the World Series. But, that's why they play the games. Right now, the Nats couldn't buy a run. Last I've checked they were dead last in the Nation League with 17 runs after 7 games. They have incredible pitching, but that lineup is a cause for concern."
