Ravens Handing Out Free Turkeys, Food Before Thanksgiving

BALTIMORE (WJZ) — The Baltimore Ravens want to help struggling families in Baltimore this Thanksgiving.

The team is hosting several Thanksgiving food giveaways this week.

Two events were held on Monday afternoon at Furley Elementary School and at the Weinberg Family Center YMCA at Stadium Place.

Ravens players Marlon Humphrey, Mark Ingram, Matthew Judon, Pernell McPhee, Marcus Peters, Jimmy Smith and Ronnie Stanley all joined forces to buy 1,000 turkeys and sides.

"We're excited to be here. It's a different year and we know our players are upset they couldn't be here in person, but we still want to show our community we're here for them and we're supporting them in any way," Drew Meyer, with the community relations department for the Baltimore Ravens, said.

"We are eternally grateful for the partnership with the Baltimore Ravens and the Furley family. We can't thank them enough for their love," Greta Cephas, Principal of Furley Elementary School, said.

Cephas was just one of many staffers delivering turkeys and sending them off with a smile.

"I want to tell everybody to have a Happy Thanksgiving," she said. "Stay safe! Stay masked up! Stay prayed up!"

The next stop for the birds was Friday afternoon at Curtis Bay Elementary followed by Zion Baptist Church.

In case you missed any of last week's events, there are several other Ravens lead giveaways through next week.
