Ravens Announce New National Anthem Singer

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- The Baltimore Ravens have announced that Joey Odoms is the winner of their National Anthem competition and will sing at each home game during the 2014 season.

Roughly 50 people auditoned.

Odoms is a member of the National Guard and a former Baltimore City 911 operator. He's known for his work as a songwriter, photographer and actor. He appeared on "The Wire" and has worked on and off the stage.

"This is amazing," Odoms stated after learning he had been chosen as the Ravens' national anthem singer. "I was caught off guard, because I really didn't think I would get it. I remember sitting there over the years while watching Ravens games and thinking to myself, 'I could probably do that,' and how cool it would feel to actually do it. But I never thought I could get to that point or how it would ever happen."

His first performance will be on July 28.

Odoms is 25.
