Prosecutors, Defense Weigh Options In Officer's Trial In Freddie Gray Death

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Prosecutors and defense attorneys met for less than half an hour Thursday behind closed doors.

But so far, no date has been set for Officer William Porter's retrial.

The prosecutor's office has not yet submitted a request for a trial.

What happens with Officer Porter will likely shift the dates of the other officers' trials.

It will be one of two expected options.

They will either retry Officer Porter, or they will offer him a deal to testify against Officer Caesar Goodson. Officer Goodson, who faces the most serious charges, was behind the wheel of the police van when Freddie Gray suffered his injuries.

Right now, Officer Goodson's trial is next, and it's scheduled to start in January.
