Proposed Salisbury Curfew Discussed At First Public Meeting

SALISBURY, Md. (AP) -- Salisbury officials are holding a series of public meetings to discuss enacting a city-wide curfew for teenagers after three fatal shootings occurred in an 11-day span earlier this month.

A group of about 20 people attended a Wednesday night meeting at the Saint Francis De Sales Parish to address the proposed curfew.

While many at the public input meeting support the curfew, citing bad experiences with local youth, some like former Salisbury City Council President Mike Dunn say the curfew could hurt Salisbury by potentially giving it a bad impression.

City Council President Jake Day says that in order for the curfew to be put into effect, the council would draft an ordinance, conduct research and hold a work session followed by several legislative sessions.
