Prison Officials: Man Who Walked Off Road Crew Is Arrested

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (AP) -- Maryland prison officials say a convicted felon who walked off a roadwork crew this summer has been arrested and now faces more time in prison.

Officials say 24-year-old Errol Vailes was taken into custody Friday after he was cited for driving without a license and failure to obey a police officer. He's being held at the Prince George's County jail.

Vailes had been serving a 6-year sentence for possession of a deadly weapon and a drug offense. The Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services says he could now face escape charges, which carry an additional three to 10 years in prison.

He allegedly walked away while working on a crew at Oxon Run Park in Prince George's County.
