Prince George's Officials Offering Christmas Tree Recycling

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (AP) -- Prince George's County officials are encouraging residents to recycle their Christmas trees once the holiday is over.

The Prince George's County Department of the Environment offers a free recycling program that begins Friday.

Officials say residents with county-provided yard waste collection can place their undecorated live Christmas trees at the curb before 6:30 a.m. on their regularly scheduled collection day.

Residents can also bring trees to two locations. The Prince George's County Yard Waste Composting Facility at 6601 Southeast Crain Highway in Upper Marlboro will take trees Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The Brown Station Road Public Convenience Center at 3501 Brown Station Road in Upper Marlboro will take trees Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.  There is no charge for drop-off service.
