Potomac Tops Oakdale For Class 2A Crown 64-51

COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) -- Randall Broddie scored 18 points as Potomac defeated Oakdale 64-51 for the Class 2A state championship Saturday night.

Broddie scored 11 in the first quarter as Potomac (23-5) took the lead for good just 3 minutes into the game. The Wolverines went on to win their fourth state title -- their first since 2005.

Potomac finished with four players in double figures. Quadree Smith added 14 points and 19 rebounds, while Dion Wiley had 13 points and Anthony Smith finished with 10 and had 15 boards.

It was Oakdale's first trip to the state finals. The Bears rallied in the fourth quarter and cut Potomac's lead to 47-43, but the Wolverines pulled away after that.

Potomac was much bigger than the Bears and dominated in rebounding, holding a 49-28 edge. The Wolverines also got numerous baskets in the lane.
