Police: Woman Struck, Killed By Truck While Changing Tire

WASHINGTON (AP) -- A woman has died after authorities say she was struck by a pickup truck while changing her tire in Southeast Washington.

The Metropolitan Police Department says 32-year-old Tomika Early of Suitland, Maryland woman was changing her tire on Suitland Parkway on Tuesday night when she was struck by a pickup truck. Authorities say the driver of the truck, 52-year-old Robert Paris of Washington, D.C., continued down the road and crashed into another vehicle.

Paris was arrested and is charged with second-degree murder and leaving after colliding. He was treated for minor injuries.

Officials say Suitland Parkway was shut down at Stanton Road through the night.

Online jail records do not indicate if Paris has hired an attorney.
