Police Use Helicopter to Rescue Teen After 75-Foot Fall

CASCADE, Md. (AP) — Officials say a 15-year-old boy was seriously hurt in a 75-foot fall from a cliff in western Maryland.

Maryland State Police Sgt. Jason Bigham says in a statement that the boy was flown to Shock Trauma in Baltimore Tuesday night after a state police helicopter crew hoisted him aboard. Bigham did not identify the boy or provide his condition.

Leitersburg Volunteer Fire Company Chief Kirk Mongan says the boy was with friends or family when he fell from the cliff known as High Rock near Penmar. Mongan says the boy was "a high-risk patient."
