Police Trying To Identify Chemical In Suspicious Death

SALISBURY, Md. (AP) -- Salisbury Police are trying to identify a chemical that was found in the car and home of a man whose death authorities have called suspicious.

The department said in a news release that officers on patrol Monday saw a car parked next to an abandoned building.

Authorities say no one was in the car, but it appeared to be covered in a chemical that emitted a strong, noxious odor. Police say officers identified the car's owner and went to his home.

Law enforcers say when police arrived at the owner's home, they saw a man lying on the floor inside. Authorities say the officers entered the home to help the man, but were driven out by chemical fumes.

The fire department removed the body of the 50-year-old man.
