Police: Truck Driver Charged With Second-Degree Murder After Striking Alleged Robber
WASHINGTON (AP) -- D.C. police say a tow truck driver who allegedly chased and ran down a man who robbed him has been charged with second-degree murder.
Spokesman Officer Araz Alali says about 12:45 p.m. Tuesday, a man robbed and assaulted the tow crane operator on Kenilworth Avenue in northeast. He says the assailant ran away and the tow truck operator got into his vehicle and drove after him.
Alali says the driver struck the man, who died at a local hospital. The dead man was identified as Kevin Lewis Crouch, 22, of Washington. His body was taken to the medical examiner's office in Baltimore.
The tow truck operator, 35-year-old Corey Dion Stoddard of Washington, has been charged with second-degree murder.
