Police: Suspect Stole Officer's Car With Child Inside

BALTIMORE (WJZ)—Authorities are searching for the suspect they say took off with an off-duty officer's car with his child inside this afternoon in Baltimore.

The incident happened in the 1500 block of Homestead Street when an off-duty Maryland Capital Police Officer was unloading items from his personal vehicle. The officer reports that the suspect got into the vehicle and took off, while his special needs child was inside the car.

Police say the officer fired at least one shot in the direction of the vehicle.

Shortly after the incident, authorities say the suspect stopped the vehicle to drop off the child.

The vehicle was found unattended in the 900 block of E. 30th Street.

No one was injured during the incident; however police are still searching for the suspect.
