Police: Slaying Of Former Md. Teacher Not Random

GLEN BURNIE, Md. (AP) -- Homicide detectives from Anne Arundel County will be on hand for a vigil marking the death of a retired school teacher who was fatally shot three years ago.

Myra Elizabeth Cason was killed in a Glen Burnie parking lot on Jan. 28, 2011.

Family members are holding a vigil at 2 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot where the shooting took place, located in the 7300-block of Ritchie Highway, and homicide detectives will be there to pass out informational flyers.

Police say they now believe that this was not a random killing and that Cason, 63, was shot by someone who knew her.

Cason was a retired Anne Arundel County school teacher.
