Police Searching For Driver In Fatal Hit-And-Run In SW Baltimore

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Baltimore police are searching for the driver in a fatal hit-and-run crash in southwest Baltimore Tuesday night.

According to detectives, 51-year-old Tyrone Taylor was walking in the 3000 block of Edmonson Avenue around 11 p.m. when he was struck by a vehicle.

The driver did not stay on the scene of the crash.

Taylor was taken to an area hospital where he died from his injuries.

"He had a beautiful heart and a beautiful spirit," Renee Chance, Taylor's fiancee, said. "I'm going to miss him because he was so, so good. I will always love him."

Investigators believe the driver was in a dark-colored pick-up truck. The truck was last seen going eastbound on Edmonston Avenue.

Some in the area said the street isn't always the safest for pedestrians with cars quickly speeding by.

"I wouldn't say it's safe because like I said everybody's in a hurry," Rodney Brooks, a resident, said.

Anyone with information about the vehicle or occupants is asked to call detectives from the Baltimore Police CRASH Team at 410-396-2606.

"We want to locate the vehicle and locate the individual or individuals who are inside of that," Baltimore Police Detective Jeremy Silbert said. "Unfortunately, the victim died from this crash and we have several questions."
