Police ID Man Shot On Bowie Community Center Grounds

BOWIE, Md. (AP) -- Police have identified a man who was shot and wounded on the grounds of a community center in Bowie.

Maryland-National Capital Park Police said Wednesday that the victim is 23-year-old Melvin Thomas Jr. of Bowie. He's being treated at a hospital, and police say his condition is stable.

Police say they've identified a person they want to interview about the shooting. That person's name hasn't been released, and no arrests have been made.

The shooting occurred on Tuesday afternoon at the Huntington Community Center. Police say associates drove Thomas to a hospital and didn't stick around long enough to talk to police about what happened.
