Missing 12-Year-Old Baltimore County Girl Found Safe In N.C.

PERRY HALL, Md. (WJZ) -- A missing 12-year-old girl has been found safe.

Jasmine Baker--missing since Tuesday--was found alive, according to Baltimore County Police.

Authorities say Baker was located at 10:30 p.m. in Raleigh, North Carolina by federal officers. She appears unharmed.

Earlier Friday, Meghan McCorkell spoke with the girl's heartsick and worried parents.

Baker's parents say they are confident that someone is responsible for their daughter's disappearance.

Across Perry Hall, pictures of 12-year-old Jasmine Baker are plastered on business windows. The FBI has put her face up on billboards up and down the East Coast, hoping someone will recognize the missing child.

"You could be the person, like that winning lottery ticket that's going to save our daughter's life," said Tina Baker, mother.

Baker's parents say their daughter is a vibrant, happy 12-year-old girl who was excited about her first year in middle school.

"She was just a normal 12-year-old who was taken advantage of," said Robert Baker, father.

Baker was last seen here at her home at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday. She was supposed to walk to Perry Hall Middle School--less than a mile away.

Police say they've searched all surveillance cameras between the two destinations and have found nothing. Now they're focusing on her social media accounts.

"We believe that people that she interacted with on her social media accounts could possibly be helpful to us in finding her," said Elise Armacost, Baltimore County Police Department.

Police say Baker used an Xbox and instant messaging service "Kik" to communicate with people--sometimes grown men from out of state.

Investigators say she does not have a cell phone, but may have her iPod touch with her. She hasn't posted on social media since her disappearance.

Tina Baker says the sixth grader would never have run away and she has a message for her daughter.

"Jasmine, just know that we are with you every minute, that we're doing everything we can."

Search parties will continue looking for Jasmine Baker Saturday morning.

A candlelight vigil will be held for Baker Saturday at her home at 4:30 p.m.

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children is assisting police in combing through Baker's social media accounts.
