Police: Mother, 26, Charged With Fracturing Infant's Skull

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- A 26-year-old woman has been charged after police say she fractured the skull of her 3-month-old son with a baby bottle.

The Herald-Mail reports that Nicole Denette Sullivan faces several charges including first-degree abuse of a child resulting in severe physical injury.

Documents say a Hagerstown police investigator went to a hospital on July 11 for a report of an infant being treated for skull fractures and a broken arm.

The child was later taken to Children's National Medical Center in the District of Columbia, where doctors determined the injuries were not accidental.

Documents say Sullivan told police that she struck the baby on the head with an empty baby bottle on June 30 because he would not stop crying.

A bond-review hearing was held Friday.
