Police: Md. House Was Torched Over 1/2 Oz. Of Pot

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- The Frederick County Sheriff's Office says an 18-year-old Myersville man set a fire that destroyed a $250,000 home because he wasn't paid for a half-ounce of marijuana.

Joshua Moore's lawyer says Moore denies setting the fire Monday at the nearby home of the Lance Kirkpatrick family.

The Frederick News-Post reported Friday that Kirkpatrick's stepson, Jacob Bolton, told police he got a bag of marijuana from Moore early Monday morning and told him he would pay him later.

Bolton contended he weighed the pot and it came up short, so he called Moore and told him he wouldn't pay. Bolton told police that Moore responded with a threat to burn Bolton's mother's car. The house went up in flames later that day.
