Police: Man Fatally Shot In Head As Group Plays With Rifle

BRANDYWINE, Md. (AP) -- Prince George's County police say a man was killed when a rifle accidentally went off as the group he was with played with the gun.

Police say officers called to a home on Croom Road in Brandywine early Thursday found 23-year-old Errick Pratt dead with a gunshot wound to the head.

Police spokeswoman Julie Parker says there was a group of five people at the home hanging out and playing with the gun when it went off. She says Pratt and the person who fired the gun were visiting the home and the person who fired is cooperating with police.

Parker says there's nothing to indicate that the shooting was anything other than an accident and it's likely that no charges will be filed.
