Police Make Attempted Murder Arrest in Northwest Baltimore Shooting

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- A man suspected of shooting another man in the neck in Northwest Baltimore earlier this month has been arrested and charged with attempted murder, authorities said Friday.

Dannta Holmes, 37, of the 1500 block of Shields Place, was arrested on a warrant Monday not far from the scene of the shooting, according to police. He's being held without bail on charges of attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, and related charges.

Just after midnight on June 15, officers in the 5100 block of Reisterstown Road encountered a 30-year-old man who had been shot in the neck. The man, who told police it happened in the 4100 block of Garrison Avenue, was taken to the hospital for treatment.

The police investigation led detectives to Holmes and they secured a warrant for his arrest June 17.

Online court records show Holmes was charged previously with a list of gun offenses on March 16, 2004. Those charges were not prosecuted.
