Officer Shoots Suspect In Park Heights Neighborhood

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Baltimore police shoot a suspect in the Park Heights neighborhood.

Rick Ritter has details.

It started with a traffic stop along Reisterstown Road. That suspect was stopped. There's no word on what the traffic stop was for.

The suspect took off. The chase carried over to the 4300 block of Pimlico Road.

A struggle ensued between the officer and the suspect. That's when the officer opened fire.

"Suspect spilled out of the vehicle. There was a foot chase. There was a struggle between an officer and a suspect. During that struggle, one of our officers discharges one round, striking the suspect. The suspect was taken to a local hospital after he escaped for a short while. He was discovered in the 2800 block of Northway. He was transported to a local hospital, where he is currently undergoing surgery right now," said Col. Garnell Green, Baltimore City Police Department.

No word on the injuries and whether or not they are life threatening.

No officers were injured in the shooting.
