Police Investigate Murder-Suicide In Halethorpe

HALETHORPE, Md. (WJZ) -- Baltimore County Police say a barricade situation in Halethorpe is over after an almost 5-hour standoff.

Police responded to the 4400 block of Fenor Road at 8:49 a.m. Thursday after a report of an assault.

While en route, officers learned that an armed man in the home had shot a woman.

Around 10:45 a.m., a tactical team recovered the woman's body from the home.

The barricade situation was over around 1:40 p.m. Police said at 1:30 p.m, police found the suspect suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Police say the man and woman were boyfriend/girlfriend.

A nearby school, Baltimore Highlands Elementary, was on "alert" status as police remained on scene.

According to Baltimore County public schools, an alert status is less serious than a lock down. However the school is secured by locking all doors from inside and all exterior doors are monitored.

The incident is being investigated as a murder suicide.

UPDATE:

Police have identified the suspect as 49-year-old Enrico Anthony Brilliantes and the victim is 42-year-old Kristina Burris. Both lived in the home where the shooting occurred.
