Police Arrest Suspect At Maryland Casino Following Carjacking In DC

Hanover, Md. (WJZ) -- Anne Arundel County Police say they have apprehended a suspect inside Maryland Live Casino following a carjacking pursuit from Washington D.C. into Maryland.

Police say around 11 p.m. Anne Arundel County Police were told about a police chase involving officers from Prince George's County Police who were coming into Anne Arundel County via Rt 295.

Police were pursuing a vehicle that was involved in a carjacking in Washington, D.C. Anne Arundel County police say the suspect made his way to Maryland Live Casino. The suspect went inside the casino where police apprehended him.

Police say the suspect, who was unarmed, was arrested without a struggle, however, they add that several people inside the casino fled the area, as  numerous officers conducted a search in and around the facility.

Anne Arundel County Fire says six patients have been evaluated. Three were transported to area hospitals with minor injuries, while three others declined medical attention.

Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Police Department are investigating the carjacking that started the chase. Police also say the suspect is a D.C. resident.

The suspect was charged in Anne Arundel County with drug offenses. The vehicle he was in was taken to Anne Arundel County Police Headquarters where a search warrant was executed on it.  The vehicle was clean and apparently not involved with the car jacking in D.C.

Police say Maryland Live Casino is now back to normal operations.
