Police Investigating After Shots Fired At Carroll County Home

ELDERSBERG, Md. (WJZ) -- Shots are fired at a home in Carroll County. It happened Monday while the homeowners were away. Now police want to know who did it.

Tracey Leong speaks with the shocked homeowners.

It's unclear whether this was a random shooting or if the home was targeted. Either way, the homeowner is thankful no one was inside at the time.

An eerie and unwelcoming sight--five bullets shattering the windows and piercing the walls of an Eldersberg home.

"If we were here in the house, it would have been one of us that would have gotten shot," said Laura Webb, homeowner.

A frightening thought for homeowner Laura Webb, who shares the home with her husband and two dogs. Fortunuately, no one was home at the time of the shooting.

"Kind of fearful to be here. I want to crawl on the floor or something," she said.

Investigators believe the shooter was in an abandoned home, just behind the house, firing shots sometime between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday.

A scary reality for people living on Caren Drive--someone violating their typically peaceful neighborhood.

"Is that what this world is coming to? You have to have bulletproof windows?" said Webb.

Police are still searching for a suspect and a motive.

Anyone with information is asked to call police immediately.
